About

Every property in Syria, in one place

Baytawan is a property marketplace for Syria: people list their own property for sale or rent across all fourteen governorates, and others search it with confidence. We are not an agency and we take no commission on a deal — we are the place the two sides meet.

The name

Why "Baytawan"?

The name is invented and not in the dictionary: bayt (house) plus the Arabic suffix -wān, which forms names of places — īwān, dīwān, ʿunwān. Three syllables, understood the first time it is heard, and pronounced correctly on the first attempt. Being non-dictionary also means it can be registered and owned, and that searching for it returns a clean page of results.

The mark

The ablaq arch

Our mark is an arch built of alternating courses in the Damascene ablaq manner, with a brass keystone. The arch is the doorway. The courses are building layer on layer — which is what the platform is, listings stacking up until they are a market. The keystone is the stone that locks the structure: the deal closing.

How we work

Three principles

01

Trust is built in the design

You know before you call: owner or broker, when the listing was last updated, whether the price is in dollars or lira. "Verified advertiser" means a confirmed phone and a matched ID — and it is never for sale.

02

The market has two sides

An advertiser needs a free, easy listing flow and numbers they can see; a searcher needs a listing that is true. Build for the searcher alone and you arrive at an empty platform.

03

Light, because the network is slow

Compressed photos, a card that reads before the photo lands, dark mode from day one, and WhatsApp contact first. Lightness here is an identity decision, not only a performance one.

Two promises

To the searcher: what you see is what you will find.

To the advertiser: list for free, and serious buyers reach you.
